Colposcopy is a technique to view your vulva, vagina, and cervix through a lighted magnifying device called colposcope. A small tissue sample is also taken, if required for biopsy during the procedure.
Colposcopy is usually suggested when Pap test results are abnormal and your doctor may suspect for presence of genital warts, human papillomavirus (HPV) or progress of precancerous or cancerous developments etc.
Recovery after Colposcopy test
You may feel soreness in vagina for about two days. Some vaginal bleeding or discharge for a week may be experienced, if biopsy is done. You are not allowed to douche, use tampons, have sex or do exercise for a week till your cervix heals.
