Cost of Breast Augmentation

The cost of breast augmentation surgery in India varies based on the type of procedure chosen. It starts from USD 3000 and can go up till USD 5500.

Breast Augmentation Surgery

Breast implants are reconstructive surgery to make breasts bigger and fuller. It can be done for cosmetic reasons or after mastectomy (complete removal of breast due to breast cancer). There are two types of breast implants – saline and silicone implants.

Saline breast implants are made up of silicone shells filled with saline water (sterile salt water) while silicone implants are silicone shells filled with a silicone (plastic gel).

The woman should be at least 18 years old for saline breast implant while at least 22 years old to get silicone implants.

Before a breast implant procedure, a complete medical evaluation will be done and your surgeon would explain what could be achieved through the surgery.

Performed under general anesthesia, the surgery takes about two hours. As per the need, the cuts under your breasts, around the nipple, and armpits are made. The breast implant is put into a space below or above your chest. Once the implant is in place, the cuts are closed with surgical tape.

Breast augmentation is an outpatient procedure or at the most includes hospital stay of one day.

Recovery after Breast Augmentation Surgery

After the surgery, the breasts are covered with gauze while the drainage tubes will be attached for a few days. You would need to wear surgery healing bra for a few days. Over the time, the swelling would reduce and the scars will diminish. Certain precautions for about two months like avoiding lifting heavy weights would be advised. Follow the doctor’s advice for quick recovery.

Life of breast implants

Breast implants do not last lifetime. They may need to be replaced if your breasts show changes in size and shape over time due to aging, hormonal changes or other complications that may develop.

An MRI scan every three years after the silicone implant surgery are recommended to check for silent rupture. Implants need to be them removed or replaced, if they rupture.
