Dental Implants

Dental implants are replacement of your natural tooth. They may be permanent or removable artificial tooth implants made of titanium which forms a strong foundation in the jaw for replaced tooth. If you have lost teeth due to an injury or any gum disease, dental implants may be a right choice.

Dental implant procedure is mostly a successful surgery with very long implant life, if taken proper care.

How is dental implant procedure done?

Your dentist will study models of your teeth through x-rays and 3D scans and plan accordingly to ensure right implants can be made to fix in correct position in the bone.

Once the dental implant (thin titanium rod that act as a root) is fitted into the site, a temporary crown is placed over the rod for the period of about two-six months. As for this duration the implant needs to fuse with the bone. As the dental implant becomes a permanent fixture in your mouth, the final implant restoration i:e., putting a permanent dental crown, is performed. This completes the dental implant process.

Dental implants can replace your one or more missing teeth or even an entire set of teeth in the upper and lower jaw.

Removable Dental Implant

Removable dental implants for extensively missing teeth can be used to replace teeth and bone to give support to the facial form. A new denture is custom made and is fabricated to provide additional strength for restoration.

Common types of dental implants

  • Endosteal implants are implanted in the jawbone
  • Subperiosteal implants are placed under the gum, above the jawbone. It is used in patients with a shallow jawbone.
