What is hair transplant?
Hair transplantation is a minimally invasive procedure that involves a removal of hair follicles from the donor site (any part of your body) to the recipient site (bald area). The procedure may be done in four or six sessions based upon the technique used, area of transplant, number of grafts required and preferred hair density.
The procedure can restore the hair of head, eye brows, eye lashes, beards, and chest. It is also used to fill scars caused due to accidents or surgeries.
Choosing between FUT & FUE Transplant procedure
- Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT): commonly used for large bald areas, leaves a linear scar, longer recovery time
- Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE): suitable for smaller bald area, no linear scar, quicker recovery time, and costlier
Who is a good candidate for hair transplant?
- Between 21-80 years of age
- You are facing Male Pattern Baldness (MPB)
- You have reached to class 3 or above on the Norwood scale
- Have balding pattern that has stabilized over the years

Recovery after procedure
After hair transplant surgery you may feel some pain, swelling, or throbbing that are managed by your surgeon through medication. Stitches are removed in a week’s time. The new transplanted hair will fall after two to three weeks while new hair growth would start in the next six to nine months. You may return to work in one to two weeks of hair transplant.
The complete healing after the surgery depends on the length, complexity, and type of surgery undergone. You would be advised to avoid strenuous activities like exercises or sports for few weeks. Follow your hair transplant surgeon’s instructions carefully to avoid any ill effects later.
