Dr. Avnish Seth is a renowned Gastroenterologist in India with over 20 years of experience in the treatment of liver, pancreas and GI tract diseases. He is the first to perform a successful stool transplant in an adult patient with ulcerative colitis in India in 2014. He has played a pioneering role in establishing the Gastroenterological and Organ Retrieval Transplantation departments in a number of hospitals in the country. He contributes heavily towards the awareness of organ donation and has led several such campaigns. Having served as the Gastroenterologist to the President of India, Dr Seth has been part of liver transplant teams in several prestigious hospitals in India. He is an expert in the treatment of GI bleeding, acid peptic disorders, Ultra-thin GI Endoscopy, Crohn’sdisease, inflammatory bowel diseases and treatment of Hepatitis B and C. he also finds interest in post liver transplant surgery treatment, ERCP, deceased organ donation and endoscopic ultrasound. He is also responsible for setting up the Armed Forces Organ Retrieval and Transplantation Authority while leading the Gastroenterology Department of the Army Hospital in New Delhi. Dr. Avnish Seth has been the mastermind in organizing the Organ Donation after the Brain Death Campaign in North India. His efforts and contribution brought in 70 liver transplants, 140 kidney and cornea transplants as well as 3 heart transplants. This campaign has by far been the most successful one in India. He has been invited to guide junior surgeons and has also delivered orations and lectures at several scientific meetings. He has over 100 publications in national and international journals and continues to do research work in his field of expertise.
