Introduction of Prof (Dr.) Subhash Gupta

Prof (Dr.) Subhash Gupta is a pioneer in the field of Liver transplantation in India. He is a highly qualified liver specialist and Hepato Pancreatic Biliary surgeon and performs various complex and risky liver transplant surgeries along with liver resections and other disorders of the pancreas and Biliary tree such as surgery for bile duct injury, Whipple’s procedure and pancreatic duodenectomy. He has developed and introduced the Living Donor Liver Transplant (LDLT) in India which has helped a large number of patients to successfully replace a diseased liver. Currently working with Max Hospital Saket, Dr. Subhash Gupta has been a part of other prestigious hospitals as well. He worked with Sir Ganga Ram Hospital where he started the Liver transplantation unit and also worked at Apollo Hospital, New Delhi where along with his team he performed more than 300 LDLT with successful results. He developed right lobe transplant techniques by retrieving the extended right lobe grafts and other techniques that include bloodless transplant, elimination of parenteral nutrition, less use of antibiotics and transplantation without venovenous bypass. Dr. Subhash Gupta has an extensive experience of over 30 years during which he has performed and been a part of several liver transplant surgeries in India. He received such experience from his training in the UK as well as from Seoul, Turkey and Hong Kong. Equally interested in academics, Dr. Subhash Gupta also has a large number of publications to his credit among which more than 30 are based on Living Donor Liver Transplant along with contributions in several medical text books. He regularly attends conferences and meetings held all over the world and present his research as well as delivers lectures on several such occasions. For his efforts and contribution in the field of liver transplant in India, he has also been honored with several prestigious awards.
